This 9-night itinerary allows up to 9 dive days on location with a variety of dive sites showcasing the underwater wonders of South Australia including leafy and weedy sea dragons on local jetties of St. Vincents Gulf and Kangaroo Island, Hopkins Islands for the playful Australian sea lions, Kangaroo Island for weedy sea dragons along with local jetty dives to observe the rare and incredibly ornate leafy sea dragon.
A beautiful tour around the pretty Neptune Islands in our tender boat saying G’day to all the Long-Nosed Fur Seals. You will also have the chance to experience exclusive walking tours on the islands.
Day 1
Our Rodney Fox Crew will meet all expedition members at The Rodney Fox Shark Museum and learning centre in Mile End, Adelaide, and take them to board the vessel by 6:00 PM. We will complete our safety introduction talk as well as have all passengers get nice and comfortable in their cabins and then cruise overnight to our first diving destination.
Day 2-3
Journey to a choice of locations along the coasts of St. Vincents Gulf and Kangaroo Island, to dive jetties and reefs to find leafy sea dragons and/or Australian sea lions.
Day 4-7
A focus on great white Sharks at both North and South Neptune Islands. This is peak season for often seeing the most daily shark numbers for the year. Topside viewing, surface cage diving and descending down in our world exclusive ocean floor cage (on SCUBA) will provide an unsurpassed insight into the lives of these still mysterious creatures.
Tender boat and island excursions around the Neptunes witnesses the breeding colonies of thousands of long nose fur seals who are just at the beginning of the breeding season and where pupping and territorial battles between the giant bull seals takes place. Rugged Island scenery, seabirds and reptiles make captivating photographic subjects.
Day 8- 10
After a few days diving with the sharks and weather permitting a side tour to dive the sea lion colonies at Hopkins Island, we cruise back through the Backstairs Passage towards Adelaide. here we choose other jetty and coastal reef locations to find the best dragon haunts. Sea lions and fur seals and often dolphins are again another diving option on the way back home in to Adelaide! On Day 10 if weather allows we have a final Dragon dive, then disembark after lunch at a location where transfers will get you back to your Adelaide Accommodation, or the Airport for those wishing to fly straight out.
Great catered menu with local food and wine, photographic, and shark research presentations available, beautiful sunsets plus lots of time to unwind and relax onboard under the stars.
